After the second Test disaster, Usman Khawaja received criticism for his casual statements.

Usman Khawaja has under criticism for remarks he made following Australia’s disastrous performance in the second Test against India.

On the third day of the second Test in Dehli, the Australian lineup buckled under pressure and was all out for a pitiful 113 runs in the second innings.

The Australian team put on a terrible performance, falling apart within 90 minutes after starting the day’s play with a commanding position of 1/61.

But while Ravindra Jadeja and Ravi Ashwin tore the visitors’ hearts out, they were undone by their dependence on trying to continuously sweep the Indian spin assault.

It meant that India just needed 115 runs to win, giving them a commanding 2-0 lead over all other teams for the Border-Gavaskar trophy.

The ball lollipopped to the fielder as Khawaja attempted to paddle a sweep around the corner, making him the first player to leave the game.

The left-handed batter made an appearance on SEN’s podcast with Gerard Whateley and Bharat Sundaresan and tried to minimise what had happened during the game.

None of Khawaja’s remarks stood out more than his five words, “that’s simply how it happens,” which caused a stir and raised eyebrows.

“On sometimes, it is just how things are. Unfortunately, we didn’t execute well enough today because we were just out-skilled. We played very well in the first innings, but we just couldn’t sustain it throughout the entire contest, according to Khawaja.

Even while there will always be outside noise, our goal is to help Australia win cricket matches.

In some manner, you must choose your poison. You may either try to perform the shots we’ve been practising or you can start blocking. That just happens that way.

Whateley was not pleased with the remarks and attacked the Australian opener’s mentality and approach, focusing on those five phrases in particular.
