Hong Kong looks into using Worldcoin to gather biometric information

Following the earlier issuance of the court orders, the world’s foremost privacy watchdog, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data in Hong Kong, raided the local offices of Worldcoin. The Office of the Privacy Commissioner expressed special worry about Worldcoin’s biometric data collecting and iris scanning procedures.
“The project may have breached relevant regulations in collecting and handling sensitive personal data,” the Office added in its acknowledgement. The citizens were urged by the Data Protection Office not to participate in this exercise. There will be more research done on the Worldcoin procedures in Hong Kong.
