Disruptive Morning Rainfall Causes Chaos in Delhi, Multiple Areas Submerged, ‘Orange Alert’ Declared

Instances of waterlogging were also observed in Sarai Kale Khan, South Extension, the area between Geeta Colony Ring Road and Akshardhan Temple, and various other locations across the city.

New Delhi encountered waterlogging and traffic congestion in various areas of the capital city following a heavy downpour earlier this morning.

As per the traffic police, the vicinity around Jamia Metro Station was engulfed by water.

Reports of waterlogging problems were received from various areas including Sarai Kale Khan, South Extension, the area between Geeta Colony Ring Road and Akshardham Temple, and several other locations across the city.

In central Delhi, traffic was significantly disrupted and caused inconvenience to commuters as a tree got uprooted on Kali Bari Marg.

As per a Twitter post from a commuter, a major traffic jam occurred on the Azadpur flyover due to an accident involving a water truck. Traffic congestion was also reported in several other sections along the Ring Road.

The weather department has issued an alert categorized as ‘orange’ in the city as well.

The IMD employs a system of four color codes to indicate weather warnings. These include ‘green’ (no action required), ‘yellow’ (stay informed and updated), ‘orange’ (be prepared), and ‘red’ (take immediate action).

The city is anticipated to experience mild to moderate rainfall throughout the day.
